A place in the sun for rail: Tri-Rail is double-tracking and Miami Metrorail is again in motion

Railway Age, May, 2004 by Luther S. Miller

"We believe that by layering our promotions, they are more interesting, effective, and fun," says Arnold. "We also, of course, do conventional marketing--for example, putting billboards touting, 'Get to the Airport for Less,' along I-95 in the midst of huge construction areas. One of our best advertisements, quite honestly, is the train itself." Potential passengers see a train with its distinctive tropical wrap running parallel to I-95 at speeds up to 79 mph as they sit stuck in traffic.

Those who switch aren't disappointed. The airport connection provides direct shuttles, which meet all trains at Fort Lauderdale and Miami airport connecting stations. It's a three-to-five minute ride to the airport. In West Palm Beach, there's a connection via Palm Tran buses.
