The first operating segment of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Hiawatha light rail system will open for business on June 26, between downtown Minneapolis and Fort Snelling. Service was scheduled to begin last month, but startup was delayed by a Twin Cities bus strike, which was recently settled. Full service to the Minneapolis-St.
Paul International Airport and the Mall of America in Bloomington will open in December as originally planned.
