Railway Age, July, 2000
ALSTOM announced June 20 that it's acquiring a 51% stake in Fiat Ferroviaria, the rail equipment subsidiary of Italy's Fiat Group. The transaction values the whole of Fiat Ferroviaria at more than $280 million. There's an option in the agreement under which Alstom could purchase the remaining 49% in two years' time.
Fiat Ferroviaria has been working in a consortium with Alstom since 1998 to provide tilting trains for Virgin Trains' West Coast Maine Line in the UK.
