Al Gore: Pro-choice on transportation issues - Brief Article

Railway Age, August, 2000

Vice President Al Gore believes Americans should have the right to drive anywhere they want to go. But, he told a campaign rally in Chicago recently, "You should also have the choice, if you want it, to park your car at the light rail station and be moved swiftly into a newly-thriving downtown without having to worry about gridlock."

He pledged to make $2.5 billion a year available to improve mass transit if elected president.
