Memphis super terminal under way - Rail Update - Brief Article

Canadian National and CSX Intermodal have entered into a public/private partnership with the City of Memphis, Shelby County, and the Memphis & Shelby County Port Commission to begin development and operation of the Memphis Super Terminal, a 155-acre intermodal facility to be built in the Frank C.

Pidgeon Industrial Park in southwest Memphis, located lust south of President's Island. Railroad investment will total $25 million. The terminal will have an annual capacity of 200,000 lifts. It will be equipped with five tracks, with a total pad length of 20,000 feet, for rail/truck trailer and container transfers. There will be parking spots for 1,800 trailers or container chassis. CN and CSXI will jointly select an operator for a September 2004 startup.
