SASIB GROUP announced Dec. 17 that it has reorganized its railway business interests into two operating units: SASIB Railway Europe in Bologna, Italy, and SASIB Railway North America/International, Rochester, N.Y. SASIB Group is the parent of General Railway Signal (SASIB Railway GRS). Mario Maestroni, president of SASIB Railway GRS since 1995, has been named chief executive officer of SASIB Railway North America/International.
He will be succeeded as president and chief operating officer of SASIB Railway GRS by William Darling, who has been senior vice president-systems engineering, since June 1996, and before that held positions with Safetran Systems and Union Switch & Signal. Gian Carlo Vaccari, vice chairman and CEO of SASIB Group, said the restructuring "signifies our commitment to the world's railway marketplace and reaffirms our commitment to the North American railroad and transit industries."
