UP appoints post-merger management team

UNION PACIFIC has established four regional leadership teams in the Operating Department. The Central and Northern Regions are headquartered in Omaha; the Southern Region in Houston, and the Western Region at Roseville, Calif.
Named general managers-transportation: Dennis Tholen, Central; left Koch, Northern; Mike Chap-- man, Southern; Jeff Verhaal, Western. General superintendents-transportation: Tom Murphy, Central; Jack Sanford, Northern; Jeff Crandall, Southern; Mike Irvine, Western. General directors, mechanical-locomotive: Rudy Bussard, Central; Barry Kanuch, Northern; Pervis Miller, Southern; Paul Johnson, Western. General directors, mechanical-car: Jim Gallamore, Central; Lyn Faulkner, Northern; Tom Russell, Southern; Rick Phillippie, Western.
Appointed chief engineers-m/w: Gene Reilly, Central; Craig Domski, Northern; Bud Jacquinot, Southern; Lynn Jensen, Western. General directors-m/w: Brennan Banion, Central; Dave Wickersham, Northern; Bill Reinhardt, Southern; J. K. Young, Western.
In the Mechanical Department-Locomotive, Jack Jolley becomes general director-rebuild operations and Mike Iden, senior director-locomotive engineering and quality. Directors arc: Ed McCaddon, locomotive maintenance operations; Jim Harstad, quality process compliance; Mark Gallagher, planning; Larry Earnshaw, environmental and facility management; Mike Manninger, operations analysis.
Mechanical Department-Car appointments are John McCullough and John Mulick, general directors-mechanical, car design and car shops, respectively. Bob Cartwright becomes director, mechanical-research and development.
In the Engineering Department, Bill Wimmer named senior AVP-engineering; Tom Connors, general director-planning and budgets. Chief engineers arc Mike Sundberg, equip ment and systems; Jim Beran, structures; Jerry Rugg, construction; Gary Lilly, track programs; Phil Abaray, signals. Toni Ogee continues as chief engineer-design. Ray Snyder becomes general director-track programs.
Risk Management appointments: John Klaus, general director-operating practices; Gayla Fletcher, AVP-claims; Dennis Jenson, general director-police; Steve Kenyon, general diecctor-safety; Dr. Dennis Richling, AVP-health services; Lou Wagner, general director-chemical transportation and risk management administration; Ken Welch, AVP-environmental management.
Tony Chacon named general manager and Barry Michaels, general director-intermodal operations. Woody Sutton becomes general manager-customer support services.
Charles Malone named AVP-passenger operations and joint facilities and Mike Ongerth, general director-special projects and merger implementation. Wayne Calder named general manager, Alton & Southern. Larry Parsons, vice president-operations, Southern Pacific, resigned, effective Jan. 1.
