Adtranz and GE Transportation Systems

Railway Age, Jan, 1997

ADTRANZ AND GE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS, who jointly developed a lightweight diesel-electric locomotive that they call the Blue Tiger, have received an initial order for 30 of the units from Pakistan Railways. The six-axle locomotives will be built in Kassel, Germany, where the prototype was unveiled in November 1996.

ADtranz and GE expect additional orders from Russia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. They project orders for 700 locomotives valued at $1 billion.
