MK Rail - restructuring - Brief Article

Railway Age, Feb, 1996

MK RAIL, no longer for sale, now has a restructuring plan "designed to return the company to profitability in 1996." New Chairman Jack Pope said that the plan includes reduction in overhead by cutting general and administrative expenses and reducing the work force, reducing inventories, and possibly selling certain assets to pay down debt.

Said Pope, who succeeded Gil Carmichael as chairman, "We must immediately begin to reduce our costs to become profitable in 1996, position MK Rail for future growth, and rebuild shareholder value."
