Amtrak - Amtrak to request bids for 150-mph trainsets for Northeast Corridor High Speed Rail Improvement Project - Brief Article

Railway Age, March, 1994

> Amtrak: Will request bids in June for the supply of 26 initial and up to 25 additional 150-mph trainsets for the Northeast Corridor High Speed Rail Improvement Project. The contract is expected to be awarded later in the summer. Six joint ventures have qualified to bid. Under Buy America provisions, the trainsets must be "manufactured in the United States substantially from articles, materials, and supplies mined, produced, or manufactured, as the case may be, in the United States." This means, says Amtrak, that "maximizing the domestic content of the trainsets will be an important factor in the award of a contract."
