WCTC's investment in Britain pays off

> Wisconsin Central Transportation Corp. reported record net income of $15.8 million for the fourth quarter of 1996, and $7.9 million of it came from WCTC's equity in English Welsh & Scottish Rail Holdings Limited. WCTC also earned $2.3 million from Tranz Rail Holdings in New Zealand. In joint ventures, WCTC operates the freight services of now-privatized British Rail as well as the railways of New Zealand.
