Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority - passenger traffic on Metrolink commuter rail service after Jan 17, 1994 earthquake - Brief Article

LOS ANGELES COUNTY METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY reports that Red Line subway passenger loads have increased 40% due to increased Metrolink commuter rail patronage from the San Fernando Valley resulting from the Jan. 17 earthquake. The Red Line is carrying an average of about 21,000 riders per day, up from an average of 15,000.

Since service began, the system has carried about 4.87 million riders, with trains logging more than 712,000 miles.
