PROTOTYPE WHEELCHAIR LIFTS, manufactured by Stewart & Stevenson Power, Inc., of Commerce City, Colo., are being installed on two Amtrak cars as part of the "All Aboard America Onboard Lift Project," which is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education's National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation.
The two lift-equipped coaches will be tested for a year on short-distance routes.
