Amtrak: Awarded a $75 million contract to GE Transportation Systems for 30 Genesis diesel-electric locomotives, which will replace aging EMD F40PH units at Amtrak's three strategic business units. The order consists of 22 4,250-hp P42s (an upgraded version of the P40s first purchased from GE in 1990), and eight 3,200-hp dual-mode P32s. Delivery is expected to begin in late summer.
