Arthur J. McGinnis, Jr., Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the Simmons-Boardman Publishing Corp. and publisher of the company's Railway Division magazines, has announced three appointments in that division: William C. Vantuono has joined the New York staff of Railway Age as assistant editor; Peter M. Sexton has been appointed regional sales manager for the division in Chicago; and Robert D. Ernst will be representing accounts in the Northeast.
Vantuono comes to Railway Age from the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J., where he was assistant director of publications and senior writer in the Office of Marketing & Communications. He earned a B.A. degree at Rutgers University in 1981, and an M.A. degree in public media arts at Montclair State College, Upper Montclair, N.J., in 1988. His credits as a free-lance writer and photographer include published articles and photographs in "The Rotarian" and "Locomotive & Railway Preservation Magazine." He is also an editor of "The Keystone," the quarterly magazine of the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical and Historical Society. Vantuono lives in Lavallette, N.J.
Peter Sexton brings a wide background in marketing and sales to his new position with Simmons-Boardman in Chicago, where he is representing Railway Age, Railway Track & Structures, and International Railway Journal. He served for eight years as Midwest advertising manager of House & Garden magazine and subsequently as managing director of Shoreline Communications, a marketing communications firm, and as marketing director for three magazines published by Qualified Remodeler, Inc. A graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, he lives in Lake Bluff, Ill.
Bob Ernst served as regional sales manager for Transit America in 1982-1987 and until recently was district sales manager for ABB Traction. He has also held sales positions with the Transportation Products Division of National Steel Corp. and Stanray. A graduate of Northwestern University, where he earned a B.S. degree in business administration, he lives in Yardley, Pa.
