Albuquerque selected for Amtech facility - makers of automatic equipment identification used in railroads to be housed in one place in New Mexico - Brief Article

Railway Age, Sept, 1992

Amtech operations now housed in three separate locations in Santa Fe and Albuquerque will be consolidated in a new electronics manufacturing and R&D facility in Albuquerque. The facility is expected to be ready for occupancy during second quarter 1993.

William D. Powers, senior vice president, Technology and Manufacturing Division, said Amtech's "rapid growth as the leader in the emerging global market of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has made it extremely important for us to increase our production capability and maximize our operating efficiency by expanding and consolidating" present operations.

Amtech developed the automatic equipment identification (AEI) technology now being implemented by railroads.
