Roll-your-own seedling pots - Garden Guide - making paper pots for seedlings - Brief Article - Product Announcement
Sunset, Feb, 2002 by Jim McCausland
With only a wooden mold and yesterday's newspaper, you can make your own biodegradable seedling pots in minutes. Simply wrap a strip of newspaper around the mold and press it into the wooden base to form the bottom--you'll produce a 2 1/2-inch paper pot that's strong enough to hold soil and endure repeated watering.
When the seedlings are ready to go into the garden, plant them intact, paper pot and all. You can buy the paper pot maker for about $15 from mail-order firms such as Gardener's Supply Company.
