Night lights

Sunset, August, 2006

Thank you for using stylish, fully shielded path lights and downlights in "Lighting Outdoors" (May, page 118). Such fixtures eliminate the nighttime lighting problems of sky glow, glare, and light trespass, and they save energy. However, the wasted energy of several sky-polluting uplights was also evident in the photo. A very good source of information about nighttime outdoor lighting is the International Dark-Sky Association (www.darksky.org).

I enjoyed the article on backyard lighting. I've gotten hooked on the lights made by Stone Manor Lighting, out of Malibu. They're just as beautiful during the day as they are when lit up in the evening. They complement my cottage landscaping wonderfully.
