Great birding spot in Arizona
Sunset, April, 2005 by Barbie Hart
"10 Best Bird Hikes" (February, Southwest edition, page 29) was timely and on target. Birding in Arizona is great and scenic too, but people should know that Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood not only is a great place to camp and fish but also plays host to the Verde Valley Birding & Nature Festival (Apr 21-24; www.birdyverde.org or 928/282-2202).
