Wooden handles on drawers, closet

These pulls and handles are easy to make.

For the drawer pulls, Oakland architect Lucia Howard drilled 2-inch-diameter holes in 4-inch-square blocks of 3/4-inch birch plywood, then sawed them diagonally. They were filled, sanded, then affixed with woodscrews from inside the drawer.

For the closet door handles, John Parsons sawed a 4- by 16-inch piece of 3/4-inch fir in half, cut a 1/2- by 12-inch section from each facing side, and glued each section in place on screwed-on spacer blocks.
