Bed and desk built into dormer

Sunset, May, 1991

Bed and desk built into dormer With space at a premium in Sally and Norman Spencer's vacation house, San Francisco architext William Turnbull made the 7-foot-wide dormers work hard.

In the guest room-study, a laminate-topped vertical-grain fir desk spans the dormer. In a child's room, a bed with a trundle bed fits into the windo bay and serves as a window seat during the day. Behind it, an 8-inc-wide shelf conceals the heating and coling vent.
