Bach's birthday in San Francisco
You can celebrate J.S. Bach's tercentenary this month in a most appropriate manner--listening to his music performed on baroque instruments.
The Historic Music in the Galleries series will offer benefit performances at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park. January 11, you can hear Bach's Musical Offering and the rarely performed Wedding Cantata #210 done by the Chamber Music Ensemble. January 18, violinist Ingrid Seifert and harpsicordist Tamara Loring will perform works of Bach and Handel.
Both concerts begin at 8 P.M.; tickets cost $8.50 January 11, $8 January 18. For reservations, call (415) 750-3624.
Other concerts in the same series will be given, free, at 2:30 P.M. in the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum one Sunday per month, in March and later; for the dates, call the preceding number.
