Derrick Cartwright, director of the Musee d'Art Americain in Giverny, France, has been named director of the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. He assumes his new post in January.
The Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, has selected Paul Warwick Thompson as its new director. Since 1992, he has served as director of London's Design Museum.
The New York-based American Federation of Arts has named Julia Brown its new director, replacing Serena Rattazzi, who retired after 10 years in the position. Brown served as curator of special exhibitions at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum from 1995 to March 2000.

The Portland [Ore.] Art Museum recently named Bruce Guenther its curator of modern and contemporary art. He had been chief curator at the Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach, Calif.
