The Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas, Austin, recently announced gifts of $500,000 each from museum trustees Jack S. Blanton and Jill Wilkinson - Museum News - Brief Article

Art in America, Nov, 2002 by Stephanie Cash, David Ebony

The Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas, Austin, recently announced gifts of $500,000 each from museum trustees Jack S. Blanton and Jill Wilkinson. The funds will be applied toward the construction of a $25-million education building designed by the Boston-based architecture firm Kallmann McKinnell & Wood.

The same firm has designed the 135,000-square-foot museum building set to begin construction this fall and open in 2005. These projects replace earlier plans by architects Herzog & de Meuron, who resigned the commission in late 1999 amid controversy over their design [see "Artworld," Jan. '00].
