Meier's Jubilee Church debuts in Rome - Artworld - Brief Article

Art in America,  Dec, 2003

Marked by three sweeping shells or arcs, the new Jubilee Church designed by Richard Meier makes a dramatic new addition to Rome's skyline. The work was commissioned as part of Italy's ambitious Millennium Project and has been consecrated as the Church of our Merciful Father. Inaugurated on Oct. 26, the 25th anniversary of the election of Pope John Paul II, the building is made of concrete, travertine, stucco and glass; the featured arcs soar from 56 to 88 feet in height.

The Jubilee complex includes both the church and a four-level community center for residents of the surrounding Tor Tre Teste district, located about six miles from the ancient city center.
