Art in America,  Jan, 2002  by Stephanie Cash,  David Ebony

Copia: The American Center for Art and Wine recently opened in downtown Napa, Calif. Designed by architect James Polshek, the $55-million, 80,000-square-foot structure contains a 280-seat theater, a library and classrooms, as well as 13,000 square feet of exhibition space. Founded by Robert Mondavi and directed by Peggy A.

Lear, the museum plans a series of exhibitions demonstrating a connection between food, wine and art, with an emphasis on contemporary art. Among the inaugural exhibitions is "Active Ingredients," featuring works by Jorge Pardo, the Art Guys, Lucy Orta, Gay Outlaw and Andrea Zittel, on view through Apr. 29.
