Poet, music critic and former General Foods executive Dana Gioia was unanimously approved by the U.S. Senate on Jan. 29 as the new chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts [see "Artworld," Dec. '02]. Gioia, who is completing a book of literary essays and an opera libretto, assumed the post in early February.
