Gary Garrels, chief curator of drawings and a curator in the department of painting and sculpture at New York's Museum of Modern Art since 2000, is leaving to become senior curator at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. He assumes his new post in late May but will continue working on a Brice Marden retrospective set to open at MOMA in October 2006.
