Officials of CIPEA (China International Practical Exhibition of Architecture) in Nanjing recently broke ground for a new Contemporary Architecture Museum designed by New York-based architect Steven Holl. The approximately 32,000-square-foot structure features several interconnecting units encompassing exhibition spaces, offices, a bookstore and a cafe.

One of its most distinctive features is a translucent sculpture gallery raised above the main building complex, which terminates in a tea room viewing platform. Completion is set for spring 2006.
