Grants - Artworld - John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation - Brief Article

The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has announced 184 recipients of its fellowship awards for 2003. Artists, scholars and scientists received grants totaling $6.75 million. The artist recipients are Judith F. Baca, Zoe Beloff, Joann Brennan, Jim Campbell, Mary Ellen Carroll, Fred Cray, Steve DiBenedetto, Teresita Fernandez, Nell Goldberg, Cannon Hudson, Mike Kelley, Justin Kimball, Greg Kwiatek, Rachel Lachowicz, Nicholas Lamia, Jessie Lebaron, Glenn Ligon, Gina Magid, Jennifer Nelson, Anne Rearick, Kathy Rose, Pauline Stella Sanchez, Paul Shambroom, Robert Taplin, Ray Thomas, Igor Vamos, Joel Werring, Wendel A. White, William Earle Williams. Art historians receiving fellowships include Eve D'Ambra, W. Jackson Rushing III, David Levi Strauss and Edward J. Sullivan.

The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation has announced the artists selected to participate in its Space Program for 2003. Artists receiving free studio space in New York's Tribeca for up to one year are Derrick Adams, Daniel Bozhkov, Thomas Brouilette, Christopher Dorland, Alessandra Exposito, Sergio Fernandez, Michael Ferris, Yun-Fei Ji, Kim Jones, Beverly McIver, Lamar Peterson, Dorothea Rockburne, Jered Sprecher and Wendy White.
