The Museum of Modern Art in New York recently announced that chairman emeritus David Rockefeller has pledged $100 million toward the museum's endowment, the largest cash gift in its history

Art in America,  June-July, 2005

The Museum of Modern Art in New York recently announced that chairman emeritus David Rockefeller has pledged $100 million toward the museum's endowment, the largest cash gift in its history. Rockefeller, 89, will bequeath the bulk of the funds to the museum in his will. Meanwhile, he plans to give the museum $5 million annually.

The gift will significantly bolster the museum's endowment, which currently stands at $476 million. According to MOMA, the money will be used to support education programs and to finance future exhibitions.
