June 7-July 14: Heather Wilcoxon, "Off the Grid." Opening: Thursday, June 7, 6-8pm. Within the past several years Heather Wilcoxon has been tackling the grave issues of war and global conflicts within the seemingly benevolent mode of an abstracted comic book style. The so-called "lowbrow" world of comics masks a deep sense of anxiety that the artist experienced in the aftermath of the events of September 11th 2001. By attempting to bridge the obvious rift between abstraction and comic representation, the artist attempts to make sense of the difficult and often unexplainable issues that surrounds terrorism, war, and death.
