Our focus is to stimulate and nurture ideas through work, and to develop the skills necessary for a lifetime practice as serious artists, architects, and designers. Students work in professional studio environment: are given responsibility and freedom to develop critical thinking and individual aesthetic voice with the guidance of distinguished Artist-in-Residence. Not a formal class structure, but intense program of studio work, critiques, reading groups/seminars, lectures by visiting artists/critics, and student research. Inter-disciplinary stimulus through open critiques and lectures across all departments: extensive Visiting Artist program with more than 80 artists and critics each year; the Academy-wide Critical Studies and Humanities lectures and symposia. 150 students of exceptional promise comprise the two year full-time-only program. Dedicated solely to graduate education, the Academy grants the Master of Architecture degree. and the Master of Fine Arts degree in 2-D Design, 3-D Design, Ceramics Fiber Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Print Media, and Sculpture.
