The MFA in Visual Art Program at Vermont College allows students to earn a 60 credit degree ever a period of two years The Program combines ten-day on-campus residencies followed by six month semesters of self-designed studio practice conducted from students' home studios in the context of the communities in which they live, work, and make art. The Program encourages an interdisciplinary approach to studio practices, helping emerging artists to integrate contemporary cultural theory with the practical concerns of their own media, method and place in the world. A full-time intensive, two-year program leading to a Master of Fine Arts degree in the art of painting The University of New Hampshire is located in Durham, NH, a coastal community one hour north of Boston This small, selective program (8 students) stresses development of skills and subject matter in the traditions of drawing, printmaking, and painting. Instruction and criticism are central to the curriculum. A summer painting program is offered in Ascoli Piceno, Italy.
