Corcoran College of Art Design is Washington's preeminent, accredited college of art and design, founded in 1890, affiliated with the Corcoran Museum of Art. BFA degrees offered in Fine Art with concentrations in ceramics, digital art, drawing, painting, printmaking or sculpture; Graphic Design; Digital Media Design; Photography; Photojournalism taught by members of the White House Press Corps and the National Geographic Society. Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT), MA in Art Education and 5-year BFA/MAT to begin in Fall 2004. AFA degrees are also offered.

MCAD is a two-year independent, non-residential art college offering an Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) degree. Students major in Fine Arts or Visual Communications in an intimate and supportive academic environment, and many then transfer to BFA programs. Located in the Washington D.C. suburbs, and accessible to public transport, MCAD offers an affordable art program that provides intensive professional training in small class settings.
