Olga Viso has been promoted to the position of director of the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. She has been deputy director since 2003 and was curator prior to that. Viso succeeds Ned Rifkin, who was named director in 2002; in 2004 Rifkin also assumed the role of under secretary for art at the Smithsonian, which will now be his sole focus.
