Ando completes Ft. Worth Modern - Front Page - Brief Article
Art in America, Sept, 2002
Construction was recently completed on the new Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, which is scheduled to open to the public on Dec. 14. Designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the 153,000-square-foot, $60-million structure is located in the city's cultural district, opposite Louis Kahn's Kimbell Art Museum and Philip Johnson's Amon Carter Museum.
This is Ando's second U.S. museum, following the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, which opened last season in St. Louis. In addition, his art venues for Naoshima have recently been added to Japan's cultural landscape [see articles on pp. 48 and 54].
