The School of Visual Arts' Master of Arts in Teaching is a 36 credit, three semester, full-time program that leads to the New York State Initial Certification in art, pre K-12. The course work emphasizes hands on experience and the theoretical frameworks and curricular resources for teaching children with diverse and special needs, Classes are integrated with student teaching and practice in SVA's childrens' programs Red Cross Shelter, Art for Kids and Liberty Partnerships Program.
