The Orange County Museum of Art recently inaugurated a new media space in Costa Mesa, Calif. Designed by architects Bauer & Wiley, the approximately 2,200-square-foot Orange Lounge at South Coast Plaza is devoted exclusively to video and digital art. In addition to temporary exhibitions, the venue will house the museum's video-art archive and its new-media study collection. Organized by museum director Dennis Szakacs, the inaugural exhibition. "Hypermedia," featured recent works by Diana Thater, Christian Marclay, Bill Viola and Yucef Merhi.

The long-delayed renovation and expansion project designed by Frank Gehry for Washington D.C.'s Corcoran Gallery of Art is back on track after receiving the endorsement of the Council of the District of Columbia. The body approved $40 million to be earmarked for the scheme, which calls for a new wing to be added to the museum's landmark 1897 structure. Groundbreaking is now set for 2006.
