"Egyptomania: Egypt in Western Art, 1730-1930" originated at the Musee du Louvre, Paris [Jan. 20-Apr. 18] and traveled to the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa [June 17- Sept. 18]. Its final stop is the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna [Oct. 15, 1994-Jan. 15, 1995]. The exhibition is accompanied by a 605-page catalogue featuring essays and descriptive entries by the curators.

Todd Porterfield is assistant professor of art history at Princeton University. He is completing a book on art in the service of French imperialism in the Near East.
