GREAT NEWS!! We have surpassed the $1,000,000 mark. This is an important milestone for CAMPaign'07 as it brings us closer to our first goal of $2,500,000. Your support not only provides direct financial resources, it is also a sign of your commitment and serves as seed money to garner funds from a variety of other sources. The overall growth in resources is vital to CAMPaign' 07's continued success in meeting the challenges of advancing the understanding and the value of the camp experience.
The total amount pledged and contributed as of January 24, 2003, is $1,147,787.68 from 384 donors. Thanks to the support of our sections and membership for bringing us this far.

Working Together
When we New Englanders heard the news about CAMPaign '07, our excitement was tempered by worry. For a number of years, we had been investigating housing options for our section office. We had owned a house in Waltham, Massachusetts for a number of years and had watched the neighborhood decline before our eyes. Reluctantly in 1995, we sold the house since it was beginning to feel unsafe to be there. We entered the rental market in Greater Boston, with the hope that we could own our own place again soon. Renting, we felt, would be an expensive option, and one that didn't suit our long-term needs. We wanted to control our own destiny and build equity once again.
Optimistically, we began a survey of available properties and realized immediately that we were going to need more funds than we had saved from the sale of the Waltham house. We began to contemplate a Capital Campaign to buy or build a permanent home.
Just then, ACA announced CAMPaign '07. While we applauded its goals and were anxious to help, we feared that our own needs would have to be placed on hold until at least 2008 to allow our New England members a chance to pay off pledges to the national campaign. With space for our office staff too tight, rents going up and options, it seemed, limited, we wondered what to do. A call to Peg Smith at National began the process of finding a terrific solution!
The CAMPaign '07 leadership welcomed a partnership with our section, as a way of making sure both our important goals could be met. Our initial meetings have begun the process of ironing out the details, and I am sure we will figure out all the "ins" and "outs" of those details over the next weeks and months. With luck, hard work, a shared vision, and lots of help from all our New England friends, we will be celebrating together wonderful successes in just a few years. Stay tuned!
