Finite & Infinite Games
Across America, the 2001 camp season has ended and millions of campers have returned home. We hope they have taken with them the true gifts of community and a greater sense of individual strength. The camp experience should be a right of passage for all America's youth, as it is a practical developmental advantage for a successful life. ACA's efforts should encourage greater participation for underserved populations.
As the memories of last summer linger in our thoughts, we begin to focus on the rapidly enlarging agenda of ACA projects for the new year! Our membership continues to grow as do our professional responsibilities. It is clear that we are attracting much more attention, and the public's expectations of us are greater. We must continue to make magic and exceed expectations.
We expect to move powerfully on many fronts including insurance, public policy, standards, advancement, and field services. There are major decisions to be made that will alter the future of ACA. I encourage you to get more involved and active. Our association needs creative and passionate members who understand that the work they do enriches all of America's children. We can impact a part of the future, and we should make the most of the opportunity.
We begin the official leadership transitions at the national and section levels. Plans will begin this fall at the president-elect's training that will continue our progress on ACA's collective agenda. It is imperative that all of the ACA community be involved in our efforts! If you have not become active before, consider this an invitation to join your fellow camp professionals in the effort to advance the camp movement. America's families depend on ACA to provide positive professional leadership, so please help us lead!
