After-school and summer youth programs

Camping Magazine, Sept-Oct, 2003

Camp Fire USA has compiled a helpful two-page description of several research studies that reveal the positive impact young people enjoy after participating in after-school and summer youth programs. Distributed by the National Collaboration for Youth, this helpful resource reports: "Students in these youth programs are more likely to improve their grades and graduate from high school. After-school and summer youth programs help children and youth stay safe while parents are at work. And youth programs are a cost-effective investment."

Additional research can be found on the National Youth Development Information Center Web site: www.nydic.org.
