Tips for Delegating - Brief Article

Camping Magazine, Nov, 2000

* Stress results. Let employees know you are more concerned with the final outcome than the process involved.

* Teach employees to be problem solvers. Don't solve employees problems when they come to you for help. Lead them to the solution by offering advice and suggestions for a resolution, but make clear that you expect them to solve the problem. Ask them for possible solutions or answers to questions.

* Recognize the skills and talents of your staff. Know what projects they can handle and what projects they can't.
