Maybe it's time to stop playing with these toys, stop pursuing the "perfect" image (an endless and unhealthy obsession), and start thinking about what movies have to say to us. The brightly colored ribbon of DVD may conceal the fact that the contemporary cinema is saying very little, and enjoying a lot of mileage from its effects.
