Father's little dividend - What's New? - Brief Article

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education), Sept, 2002

So many contraptions come with having a new baby, from bouncy seats to portable playpens to state-of-the-art cribs to a battery-operated infant swing/cradle to ... well, you get the idea. Now don't get us wrong; we're not Luddites. The march of technology has been a boon to the baby industry and a godsend to parents. So, as long as we have out our praise books, let's add another can't-live-without to the list: the Air 6 LiteRider Travel System from Graco, Exton, Pa., a car seat that doubles as an infant carrier. No big deal there. Ah, but that car seat/carrier then attaches to a stroller. Eureka! We know from whence we speak, having lugged around an infant carrier for all three of our kids. (We've never understood how a child so small in what essentially is a cushion-lined plastic container with handles could weigh so much and numb our arms so quickly.)

The Air 6 is so named because, unlike conventional strollers which have solid rubber wheels, it has inflatable tires for a smooth ride, benefitting not only the child--who's held safely in place by a five-point harness--but the grown-up doing the pushing. The seat has three reclining positions, so Junior can ride in comfort and style. Another benefit for pusher and pushee are the parents' organizing tray on top (for diapers, toys, bottles ... whatever) and a child's tray down below. The Lite Rider ($229.99) can be found at mass merchandisers and department and specialty stores.
