Furniture for little ones - What's New? - from Delta Enterprises Corp

USA Today (Society for the Advancement of Education), Jan, 2003

* When you have kids, there never seem to be enough hands to handle all the tasks at hand. This is especially true of infants. Well, at least one chore has been rendered obsolete by Delta Enterprises Corporation, Brooklyn, N.Y., makers of the Diaper Wizard ($29.99), "The `magic' pail that opens and closes automatically--hiding dirty smelly diapers from sight and smell" Thanks to infrared technology powered by four D batteries, a simple wave of the hand opens the container's cover. After the offending waste has been deposited in the double-seal, odor-locking system, the cover closes automatically. Once the baby finally outgrows diapers--please don't try to figure out how many you'll change before that day arrives; it's too depressing--the Diaper Wizard can be utlized as a wastebasket, perfect for use in the kitchen or the laundry room.

That should come as no surprise since many of the products in Delta's Babies Lov line are two-fers, three-fers, and four-fers. For example, there's the crib that converts into a toddler bed, then a full-size bed, then a loveseat. We opted for the St. Moritz changing table ($399) that's really a five-drawer dresser, the top of the three-drawer section being the exact size of a standard changing table. Just place a changing mat on top of it, and you're diaper-ready.

This isn't to say that Delta doesn't make single-function furniture. We love the Liberty toddler bed ($99) for our three-year-old. Moreover, what you see is what you get--a toddler bed. And like the St. Moritz, no pressboard is used here, just real wood.

Meanwhile, the Baby Snoopy collection is Delta's newest, featuring a selection of, strollers, bassinets, walkers, furniture, and playtime accessories. We were in the midst of furnishing our new playroom, and the table-and-two-chairs set ($49.95) was just what we wanted: attractive, sturdy, wooden furniture--with pictures of Snoopy and Woodstock to boot.

Delta's Baby Lov products are available at mass merchandisers and furniture stores.
