> The effects of Alzheimer's disease may be reversed by a group of existing compounds with known biological properties--some already approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Vernon Ingram, professor of biology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, maintains that some chemical combinations negate a process caused by beta-amyloid plaques that attack the brains of patients in the early to mid stages of the thus-far-incurable disease.
