Mary Cassatt: modern artist, modern woman

The first retrospective exhibition of the artist's work in more than a generation, "Mary Cassatt: Modem Woman," will provide visitors with an opportunity to view an ensemble of 100 of her greatest masterworks. The exhibition opens Oct. 13 and runs through Jan. 10, 1999, at The Art Institute of Chicago. It then will travel to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (Feb. 14-May 19, 1999) and the National Gallery, Washington, D.C. (June 6-Sept. 6, 1999).
The authors are, respectively, research curator, Department of American Arts, and associate director for special projects, Department of Museum Education, The Art Institute of Chicago (Ill.).
