Back when he was governor, Reagan always went home reasonably early

National Review, June 28, 2004 by Lyn Nofziger

"Back when he was governor, Reagan always went home reasonably early. He didn't believe in hanging around the office for the sake of hanging around the office. One time, about 5:00, he was on his way out when he stuck his head in our office and said, 'Fellas, go home to your wives and daughters.' We said, 'If we do, who's going to do the work?' And he said, 'It doesn't need to get done.

Go home.' And I've always thought that he was right, that much of the work of government doesn't need to get done."
